Palm Desert Community Gallery
This year marks the 24th anniversary of the City of Palm Desert's Student Art and Essay Contest. This popular annual contest encourages students to discover their talents and reach their full potential through self expression. The Art in Public Place Commission selects the theme for each year’s contest, which helps direct the students’ creativity while promoting community pride.
This year’s theme “How Would I Change the World?” inspired more than 2,000 Palm Desert students in grades K through 12 to create essays and artworks for the contest. Work by the winners from each grade in each school are on display in the Palm Desert Community Gallery at the Visitor Center through May 28.
Local service businesses, service clubs, and other groups contributed to support the awards, which include savings bonds and cash as well as trophies, certificates, and ribbons.
The Palm Desert Community Gallery, located at 72-567 Highway 111, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For more information, please call 760-568-5240.
