Palm Desert is just a two-hour drive from Los Angeles and San Diego. Interstate 10 goes through the Coachella Valley and continues on its way from Los Angeles to Phoenix. State Highways 74 and 86 terminate in Palm Desert.

The Palm Springs International Airport is a short 25-minute drive from Palm Desert. The newly remodeled airport hosts a number of scheduled carriers including Alaska, American and America West. Ontario International Airport, an hour and 15-minute drive from Palm Desert, boasts an extensive schedule of flights. For access by private plane, Bermuda Dunes Aviation Airport and Desert Resort Regional Airport in Thermal are available.
Rail:
Amtrak has stations in nearby Palm Springs and Indio.
